Practicing yoga three to four times a week can stave off anxiety and depression, by lowering levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. It also reduces inflammation, boosts energy and has the power to lift your mood. Yoga improves cardiovascular health and lowers blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing the flow of blood to the heart, and speeds up digestion which can assist in weight loss.
Suffering from a sore neck or back? When you hold a yoga pose your muscles contract and then relax, easing tension and relieving pain. Regular practice not only benefits your body, it’s also good for your brain. Focusing the breath maximized the flow of oxygenated blood to your head, increasing memory performance, concentration, creativity and focus.
